Trip to Turner Field....

On Tuesday Brent tried to talk me into taking an overnight trip to Atlanta to watch the Braves play the Yankees on wed., but I reminded him that he had class on Wednesday so it was not a possibility. So on Wednesday he did the same thing, this time he just had to get out of work. That was accomplished without really trying and we just had to get the tickets and the hotel. We found a pretty cheap hotel, which we will never stay at that chain again, and got the cheapest tickets we could find for the game. The trip was 8 hrs down to Atlanta, but it was a gorgeous drive and some nice family time. When we got to Atlanta our hotel room was Very hot. We turned the a/c on, but it only stayed on for 5 min then turned off. If you have been to the south or to Georgia you know how hot and Humid it can get, and Thursday was not a cold day. It was in the 90's when we got there, and by just getting out of the car you would start sweating. Gross. We had to do a couple of things for sure while in Atlanta/Georgia. Chick-Fil-A was started there and Brent loves it, so we had to get some chicken. It was probably the best Chick-Fil-A we have eaten at. We were almost late to the game since it started at 7 and we didn't get to the freeway till 6. We stayed about 14 miles away from the downtown because of hotel prices. Since we were only gonna be there one night we didn't care about quality as much. So we get to the game and unfortunately didn't have time to really explore the ballpark. The game was pretty long and we ended up leaving after the 7th inning, it was already like 10:30 or so. Garret was kinda acting like a punk the whole day, probably from riding in the car for 8 hrs then going to a baseball game in bad heat and humidity, so I had to take him on a walk around the park and to find him some memorabilia, we try to get him something from each game we go to. I can't believe this was his 3rd MLB game and he's only 3. Lucky kid. After we got back to the hotel we discovered that our a/c, which we left on when we left, was broken. Our room was hotter than outside. Brent called the front desk and they made a big deal about it, but finally put us in another room. Did I mention we aren't staying in that chain again?
The next morning we had a grumpy kid again, which wouldn't behave in public for us to have breakfast in a restaurant so we had to get McDonald's drive-thru and eat in the car. When Brent and I were done eating G finally wanted something. We tried to find something else to do to get Garrets energy out so he would be good in the car and take a nap and all that, so we went to the Centennial Olympic Park. They have a few play areas for kids and a nice water fountain park thing that people can play in. We were going to let G do that but there were way too many people there so he played in the play ground instead. In the surrounding buildings are the CNN center, Atlanta's aquarium, a kids museum thing, the World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Dome is down the street a little. We decided to go to the World of Coke. They have a ton of stuff there. They have a bottler that works, and they give you a bottle of coke before you leave. They also have a tasting area with like 60 different products they make from around the world. There were some that tasted good or ok, but some were sooooo nasty. We didn't try all the flavors but we tried enough to make us feel sick after. If I liked coke more it probably would have been more exciting or whatever, but it really wasn't that big a deal. So when we left it was time for lunch and to head back to Ohio. We saw a Panda Express by our hotel and since we don't know if there are any near where we live, we went there. On the way home we ran into a couple bad rain spots. They were both in Kentucky. Our tires aren't in the best of shape, but they held on for us. I was driving and I have never driven in rain that hard in my life. The windshield wipers didn't really help it was coming down so hard. We were very happy and thankful that we were able to get there and back without incident. I think we all had fun. We always enjoy going to games, I just can't wait for Garret to be old enough to appreciate it and watch the whole game, or at least most of it. Garret is trying to master the whole sleeping in a car seat thing.

You have to tell us the chain! Sounds like a nice little vacation!

It was Red Roof Inn, don't recommend it. They didn't even have a hair dryer... whats with that? O and they gave a little travel package of kleenex instead of boxes like most places do. It looked alright inside, just not the friendliest.

What a cute picture of Garret. He is getting so big! We are glad you got to go and have a little break. It always helps. G'Ma and Dustin were in Vegas for 5 days while Patricia was at girls camp. We got home and Crystal and the kids came for a few days. Tanner BB team took 2nd in the city tourney. Chase turned 13 while they were here! We had a party.
We are going to Yellowstone on July
6th for a few days with Doug & family. We miss you tons. G'Ma
