BYU football...

Last Friday we went down to New Orleans for the BYU v. Tulane football game. We were pretty excited since neither of us had been to New Orleans before. The game was a blow-out, but it was still fun for us. Saturday morning we were able to walk around the French Quarter. We started out on Bourbon Street, but after a few blocks decided we didn't want to look at inappropriate stuff anymore, or let Garret see it, and we went over to a different street. The rest of our looking around in the French Quarter was better than Bourbon Street. We walked along the Mississippi River and saw a lot of historical sites, as well as a ton of people in BYU attire and some other people already drinking (10 am). It was fun to just get out and spend some time together.
We ended up walking to the game, it was in the Louisiana Superdome, and only about a mile from our hotel. It was a pretty easy walk, being completely out of shape. The only downfall was when the game was over walking back to the hotel we got soaked, it had started pouring while we were watching the game, and didn't stop till about 30 min after we got back to our room. Garret did really well at the game. It moved pretty fast and he never got annoying like he has before at sporting events. He did ask if we were going back to the hotel every 30 min or so, but thats fine as long as he didn't try to take off on his own. There weren't very many people there. The Superdome is huge. If everyone sat together there would have been only about 8 sections filled in the whole place. Needless to say we were able to pick our seats, and we did, a couple of times. I felt pretty bad for Tulane, they had almost no fan base. Brent was able to count the students that came and there weren't very many other fans. BYU fans definitely took up more space, over half the people there were wearing blue. By the end of the game Tulane's student section was empty and most of the other green wearing fans were gone as well.
On Sunday we were able to stop off in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and visit a guy that Brent met in the MTC and served with in Brazil. They weren't companions, but did get to do some stuff together. Brent was able to see him last year when UVU mens basketball team went to Alabama for a game. It was fun meeting someone from Brents mission. I have met a few others, at our wedding reception, but its been a while since then.
I didn't get any pictures of this trip, mostly because I forgot to get any so sorry. But it was fun and we had a good time and can cross New Orleans off our list of places to see. Now we just have to find out how we are going to watch BYU v. Florida State tomorrow.
